Off The Laptop Screen
Later yesterday evening, I was watching Stranger Things. I was on episode seven of season five; I’ve been watching it for the last three days. I was so engrossed in the show, reaching a penultimate juncture, just binge-watching and enjoying some snacks like chips and popcorn. In the midst of it, I looked up from my laptop and saw the kitchen. My mother was cleaning the fridge, which was turned off to let the ice melt. It had been dirty all week, and she was cleaning it out. I noticed her expression; she looked disappointed. My sister was busy with an assignment, my father was resting after a day of work, and there I was, just watching a show. I could see her internal disappointment on her face, and I realized how selfish I was being. Even though she was tired from her day’s work, she was committed to finishing the household chores regardless.
